"They always say I'm too weak in front of Putin. They want me to have a boxing match with him."SputnikQuoting US President Donald Trump's words during a rally in Minnesota: "I think I'm going to fight very well."
Trump made this statement while criticizing how the American media portrayed his summit meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, Finland, in July.
Amidst cheers from his supporters, the US President continued to denounce the media for "fake news." "With Russia, they say I'm too soft. But with North Korea, they say I'm too tough," Trump said. "If I were really tough on Russia, they'd say 'he's too tough.' They're absolutely insane."
During a joint press conference with Putin in Helsilki, Trump declared that he believed Putin's assertion that Russia did not interfere in the 2016 US presidential election. Trump was subsequently heavily criticized by the American media, who accused him of being "weak and submissive" to his Russian counterpart Putin by appearing to trust Moscow more than US intelligence agencies.
