(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of November 23, the 335th Infantry Regiment, 324th Division (Military Region 4) conducted a river crossing exercise as part of the 2016 year-end battalion-level live-fire drill.

Under combat conditions on a river nearly 180 meters wide and almost 5 meters deep with strong currents, the 5th Infantry Battalion and the fire support companies of the 335th Regiment had to secretly cross the Giang River (Thanh Chuong - Nghe An) using methods such as swimming with weapons, armed swimming, and utilizing the terrain and natural features: swimming across the river with infantry weapons, and constructing rafts from trees.

After more than an hour of tight command and seamless coordination between units, over 670 officers and soldiers, along with their weapons, ammunition, equipment, and combat vehicles, safely crossed the river without the need for rescue assistance, achieving the set objectives and requirements. Notably, the combat weapons included heavy firepower, such as various types of mortars and anti-aircraft machine guns.
