The chicken eggs Ms. H. bought from the restaurant when cut and burned on fire had a burnt smell like burning rubber. |
At around 7:00 p.m. on September 17, Ms. Le Thi H. (residing in Le Loi Ward - Vinh City) took her child to eat porridge at a restaurant on Le Hong Phong Street. When she arrived, Ms. H. ordered egg porridge for her child. When the restaurant owner brought out the egg porridge, Ms. H. saw that the young chicken egg (with just formed yolk) was cut into pieces but not broken. She picked it up to smell and found a fishy smell.
Seeing that this egg did not seem like the chicken eggs her family usually ate, Ms. H did not let her child eat it and bought another similar egg to bring home.
Ms. H. used a knife to cut this egg and saw that the pieces of egg were as chewy as coconut jelly. She held the egg and squeezed it lightly, but the egg did not break into powder like usual, but instead it popped in and out like rubber. She continued to take the pieces of egg and tried to burn them on the fire. In a moment, the red pieces of egg burned black and smelled like burnt rubber.

Next, Ms. H boiled a chicken egg from her hometown in Dien Chau and followed the same steps as she had just done with the egg bought from the porridge shop. As a result, according to Ms. H, when the chicken egg was cooked, she gently squeezed it and the yolk broke into pieces. Burning these egg fragments was very difficult and gave off a fragrant smell like that of baked egg tarts.

Ms. H. put two eggs on a piece of paper, on the left are home-made eggs, on the right are eggs bought from a restaurant on Le Hong Phong street. |
According to Ms. H, her friend who went with her also bought nearly a dozen of those eggs and fed them to her child deliciously.
Currently, Ms. H is very confused because she does not know whether these are fake chicken eggs made of rubber as rumored online or not.
