Egg prices have dropped to just over 1,000 VND per egg due to false rumors.
The Vietnam Poultry Association has sent a document to relevant authorities regarding false information circulating on social media about the production of fake eggs, which has caused the price of chicken eggs to drop to 1,200-1,300 VND/egg.
In a document sent to the Ministries of Public Security, Agriculture and Environment, Industry and Trade, Science and Technology, the Vietnam Poultry Association stated: Recently, false information about the production of fake chicken eggs in our country has appeared and spread on some social media sites.
This information has caused confusion and anxiety among consumers and negatively impacted the domestic production and business of poultry eggs.

The association stated that the purchase price of chicken eggs at farms, which was already below the production cost (meaning farmers were losing money) at only 1,400-1,500 VND/egg, has now dropped to 1,200-1,300 VND/egg.
Furthermore, production and business establishments are facing many difficulties in selling poultry eggs. Many businesses and egg-laying chicken farmers are suffering heavy losses and are now at risk of bankruptcy.
The Vietnam Poultry Association emphasizes that there is no scientific evidence worldwide of the production of fake eggs that resemble natural chicken eggs. In fact, no fake eggs have been found circulating in the Vietnamese market in the past or present.
Therefore, it can be confirmed that the information circulating on social media about the production of fake chicken eggs is completely fabricated.
Therefore, the Vietnam Poultry Association recommends that relevant authorities investigate, verify, and strictly punish those who spread false information about fake chicken eggs. This information not only causes panic among consumers but also inflicts heavy losses on poultry farmers.
