The Chinese television station cut out and replaced details related to the military.

The South Korean drama Descendants of the Sun was licensed by China and broadcast simultaneously with Korean television.

"Descendants of the Sun" is considered the television drama that ignited the Hallyu cultural wave.

According to a report by South Korean news outlet Segye on March 29, Chinese broadcasters cut and edited some scenes during the censorship process before airing the drama.

Descendants of the Sun began airing on February 24th. Currently, the drama is becoming a hot topic and sparking debate across Asian online communities. It airs on KBS 2TV in South Korea and is simultaneously streamed online in China.

The producers also stated that filming began last summer and 16 episodes were completed before airing, with the goal of simultaneous broadcast on Chinese television. After passing censorship, Descendants of the Sun became the first Korean drama to be broadcast simultaneously in China.

However, the Chinese television station recently revealed that they had edited some of the military content in the film before broadcasting it.

During the censorship process, some scenes containing sensitive military content were cut or edited.

For example, the intense battle scene with North Korean troops in the first part of episode 1 was cut and replaced with footage of Chinese soldiers receiving medical treatment.

The Chinese broadcaster explained that they had seen scenes of fighting between the South and North Korean armies and were concerned that this would negatively impact relations between China and North Korea. Therefore, they proposed to KBS to replace the scene with footage of Doctor Kang Mo Yeon (Song Hye Kyo) treating Chinese soldiers, and their request was approved.

The scenes of military action between North and South Korea have raised concerns in China that they could affect relations between China and North Korea.

Although the drama "Descendants of the Sun" is a sensation in the Chinese market with over 2 billion views, the Ministry of Public Security has issued a warning: "The drama may be dangerous and lead to legal risks." This warning was posted on the agency's Weibo social media account.

Chinese censorship authorities argue that the film's danger stems from the fact that a large number of Chinese girls are "obsessed with Song Joong Ki," which could easily lead to legal problems.

Lead actor Song Joong Ki has captivated many girls in China in particular and Asia in general.

A recent altercation in Fujian also stemmed from this drama. A 24-year-old man yelled at a photographer, demanding that they photograph him looking like Song Joong Ki, the male lead in the drama "Descendants of the Sun," because his wife was obsessed with the South Korean actor who played a soldier. She even talked about Song Joong Ki constantly and took his phone to the bathroom to watch the drama.

The Chinese government's concerns about the overwhelming popularity of Korean dramas are not new to Descendants of the Sun. Back in 2014, the immense popularity of My Love from the Star also prompted warnings from the media security agency of the world's most populous nation. The reason given was that the drama's content, which involved aliens, was modified during censorship and only recently allowed to air on the country's official television channel.

Việt Nam đã mua bản quyền để phát sóng bộ phim hot
Vietnam has purchased the broadcasting rights for the hit drama "Descendants of the Sun".

Descendants of the Sun has been licensed to 27 countries, including Vietnam. The drama revolves around the romantic story between a captain and a female doctor in a war-torn area. The Vietnamese audience was a major factor in the drama's popularity. Young people, mostly women, were captivated by the handsome military man, Song Joong Ki. Many photo shoots styled after the main couple were shared online. The clothing, shoes, and earrings worn by the actors in the drama became best-selling items.

In addition, the drama is becoming a hot topic of debate on social media. Some opinions suggest that young people should learn more about the history of the South Korean military's participation in the Vietnam War, while others counter that Descendants of the Sun is simply an entertainment show.

The series is still airing in South Korea every Wednesday and Thursday night, and is translated and re-broadcast online in Vietnam.
