Speaking at a press conference, Mr. Suga said: "Such actions cannot be considered as contributing to the improvement of Japan-China relations, and that is extremely regrettable."

The monument, unveiled on October 22 at Shanghai Normal University, features a seated girl in traditional Chinese attire alongside another girl in Korean clothing, similar to the statue placed in front of the Japanese Embassy in Seoul in 2011.

According to informed sources, this is the first such structure in China. Similar statues have been exhibited in the United States, Canada, and Australia.
