At 8:30 PM on July 14th, Mr. Luong Van Thanh (34 years old), residing in Son Tien commune, Huong Son district (Ha Tinh province), was on his way to his wife's hometown in Nghi Hoa commune, Cua Lo town, when he stopped at an ATM of the Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (Vietin Bank) in Nghi Xuan commune, Nghi Loc district, to conduct a transaction.

Here, after checking his personal ATM account balance of 75 million VND, Mr. Thanh withdrew 5 million VND in cash and hurriedly left. After realizing he had forgotten his card, he returned to the place where he had withdrawn the money but couldn't find it. He contacted customer service for assistance, but since it was a holiday, the bank was closed. He had to contact the hotline to schedule an appointment to resolve the issue early next week.

At the time Mr. Thanh forgot his card, Major Nguyen Sy Hai was at an ATM in Cua Lo town to conduct a transaction. Before completing the transaction, Major Hai saw 5 million VND from the ATM along with the ATM card. In that instant, Major Hai thought he had to find a way to return it. Holding the money and card, he contacted the bank's hotline to report the incident, hoping to meet the person who had forgotten it.

Immediately, Mr. Luong Van Thanh received a phone call from the Vietin Bank Customer Service hotline informing him of the incident.

After contacting and verifying the identity of the person who found his belongings, at noon on July 15th, at the Nghi Hoa Ward Police Station, the two parties proceeded with the exchange of lost property. “When I discovered my account was missing, I was very worried because my family had an important matter to attend to soon. Fortunately, I met a kind person and got my money and ATM card back,” Mr. Thanh said.

Confirming the incident to us, Mr. Ho Minh Thang, Head of the Cua Lo Town Police, said: “Mr. Hai is the Head of the Nghi Hoa Ward Police, and he has been attending a management course at the People's Police Academy (Hanoi). The town is launching many campaigns to celebrate the anniversary of the establishment of the security forces (July 12) and Police Day (July 20), so he took advantage of the weekend to participate in activities with the town and ward police. His actions are highly commendable.”

Reportedly, upon recovering his lost account, Mr. Thanh sent a letter of thanks to the Director of the Provincial Police, the Head of the Cua Lo Town Police, the officers and soldiers of the Nghi Hoa Ward Police, and Mr. Hai personally.
