In accordance with Government Decision No. 198/CP dated September 14, 1965, the first specialized mathematics classes were established in Nghe An province starting from the 1965-1966 school year. By the 1969-1970 school year, additional specialized literature classes were formed; this laid the foundation for Nghe An province to decide to establish a specialized high school.

On October 15, 1974, the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee announced the Decision to establish the Boarding High School for Gifted Students (Grade III) by merging the Grade III specialized Literature and Mathematics classes currently studying at Do Luong II High School and Thanh Chuong I High School. This was the predecessor of Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School.

Over the past 50 years since its founding and 60 years of specialized programs, Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School has continuously expanded its scale and classes. The school has excellently fulfilled its mission of discovering, training, and nurturing outstanding and talented generations, providing an environment that ignites dreams and aspirations, and a gathering place for the talents of Nghe An province. Currently, the school has 45 classes with over 1,500 students annually.

Over the course of 60 years of development, generations of teachers and students of the school have achieved many outstanding accomplishments, bringing glory to the school named after the patriotic scholar Phan Boi Chau, and further enriching the tradition of studiousness in Nghe An province.

In recognition of its outstanding achievements and significant contributions, the school has been awarded many prestigious honors, including: the Third-Class Labor Medal (1994), the Second-Class Labor Medal (1999, 2023), the First-Class Labor Medal (2004), the Third-Class Independence Medal (2009), the title of Hero of Labor (2013), and being honored twice in the "Glory of Vietnam" program (2007, 2013),...

In particular, during the celebration of the school's 50th anniversary and 60th anniversary of the specialized program, Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School was honored to receive the Second Class Independence Medal.

Our goal is to become a specialized high school on par with regional and world-class standards.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the provincial leadership, Comrade Bui Dinh Long - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - acknowledged, warmly congratulated, and praised the achievements that generations of teachers and students of Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School have strived for and achieved over the past time.

Emphasizing that 50 years marks the end of a chapter but also opens a new phase with a new vision and expectations for a new position, the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province suggested that teachers and students need to strive and make even greater efforts to continue developing the school steadily to new heights, affirming the stature and position of a heroic unit with a rich tradition, in line with the educational requirements of the current period and reaching for international integration.

To achieve that, Comrade Bui Dinh Long suggested that the school's staff, teachers, and students need to effectively carry out several key tasks.

First and foremost, Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School needs to continue effectively implementing the major policies of the Party, the State, the education sector, and the province regarding fundamental and comprehensive reform of education and training.

"Focus on 'Building Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School into a high-quality key school' with the goal of becoming a leading specialized high school in the country and on par with high schools in the region and the world," the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province emphasized.

At the same time, the school needs to continue improving the quality of comprehensive education and specialized education, using innovation as a driving force for development, and focusing on building a development strategy that is on par with advanced schools in the region and the world.

This is coupled with strengthening cooperation and linkages with specialized high schools domestically and internationally to expand scale, improve capacity, and enhance teaching effectiveness. Building a pedagogical environment of unity, camaraderie, and collaboration, striving for common goals. Further strengthening education in life skills, computer science, and foreign languages, preparing students with the necessary conditions to become global citizens.

Vice Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Bui Dinh Long also noted the need to further improve the work of building a team of cadres and teachers to meet the requirements and tasks in the new period; proactively advise Party committees, authorities, and the Education sector to build school facilities according to advanced, synchronized, modern standards, on par with regional and international levels, meeting the requirements for training talented individuals and high-quality human resources in the era of international integration.

To the students studying at Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School, Comrade Bui Dinh Long expressed his wish that they continue to enhance their self-awareness in studying and training, preparing themselves with the best foundation for future self-reliance and career development, daring to take risks and accept challenges, to serve their homeland and country, and living up to the trust of their families, society, and the 50-year tradition of the school.

On this occasion, the comrade also requested that Party committees, governments, political and social organizations, and departments, agencies, and mass organizations at the provincial and Vinh City levels, with their respective responsibilities, develop specific plans and measures to continue investing in and building infrastructure, creating a healthy educational environment, and providing conditions for the school to excellently fulfill its mission, uphold its traditions, and forever remain a shining example in the field of education in the heroic Soviet-era Red City.
