Authorities successfully apprehended the man who fired at police in Son La.
A drug trafficking suspect who fired at police and then fled has been successfully apprehended by authorities in Son La province on the evening of December 24th.
The police in Thuan Chau district, Son La province, announced that suspect Nguyen Van Long (45 years old, residing in Yen My 2, Xuan Hoa ward, Phuc Yen city, Vinh Phuc province) was arrested at 8:30 PM in Bo To village, Chieng Ly commune, Thuan Chau district - dozens of kilometers from the area where he resisted arrest and fled.

On the afternoon of December 23rd, on National Highway 6 in Phong Lang commune, Thuan Chau district, Son La province, authorities signaled a five-seater car driven by Long, traveling in the direction of Dien Bien - Son La, to stop for inspection.
However, Long drove his car into a traffic police vehicle from Thuan Chau district that was on duty. When he was stuck on the roadside, Long used a gun to resist the authorities before abandoning his car and fleeing into the forest.
Upon inspecting the abandoned car, a Mazda CX5 with license plate 30H 112.09, police discovered 22 blocks of narcotics, 17 kg of methamphetamine, and other related evidence.

300 officers and soldiers, along with forces from communes, villages, and towns, and police dogs, were mobilized to search for the suspect. Because it was getting dark and the weather was bitterly cold when Long used a gun to resist law enforcement and then fled, the pursuit faced many difficulties.
In addition to setting up checkpoints in key areas that the suspect might use to escape, the police have closely coordinated with the Party committee, local authorities, and residents of neighboring communes to control and track down the suspect.
