Two police officers had to undergo HIV exposure treatment while chasing criminals

When being chased by the police, the HIV-infected subject used a piece of broken glass to draw blood, then scratched and bit the officer on duty.

On December 30, Quang Xuong District Police (Thanh Hoa) announced that they had initiated a case of Consumption of property obtained through criminal acts and arrested Nguyen Van Hung (40 years old, residing in Dong Tan Commune, Thanh Hoa City).

Previously, on December 25, when the police were chasing him, Hung fought back fiercely. He used a piece of broken glass to cut his hand, causing it to bleed, then scratched and bit two policemen.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Tien Dung - Deputy Head of Quang Xuong District Police, the district police previously clarified and arrested Mai Van Thang (32 years old, residing in Quang Linh Commune, Quang Xuong District) as the suspect in the motorbike theft at Quang Linh Commune Medical Station.

After stealing the motorbike, Thang sold it to Hung. When the Quang Xuong District Police expanded the investigation and made an arrest, Hung bit two policemen. The two policemen are now infected with HIV and are undergoing treatment.

It is known that Thang specializes in stealing property from trucks stopping along Highway 1A and is also HIV-infected.

The incident is currently under investigation.
