Traffic police officers employ tactics such as receiving bribes through intermediaries, directly or indirectly, via bank accounts, or by having others register accounts under their names, often involving very large sums of money. In some cases, traffic police officers receive money monthly, per trip, or to avoid weighing or inspecting vehicles.
When transport companies deposit money into the account, the "brokers" directly withdraw the cash or transfer it around before withdrawing it and giving it to the traffic police. Alternatively, the traffic police directly use the account to withdraw the money. Many transport companies refuse to pay "protection money," so the traffic police hire "brokers" and motorbike taxi drivers to monitor them day and night, causing difficulties and forcing them to pay bribes.
