Youth group sentenced for spreading obscene culture.
Nguyen Duc Vinh, a severely disabled individual, was the operator of a pornographic forum, specializing in posting obscene videos, images, and sex stories to attract a large audience. He was assisted by a group of young people from various provinces and cities.
On November 1st, the Nghe An Provincial People's Court held the first-instance trial of the case "Disseminating obscene cultural products". The defendants included: Nguyen Duc Vinh (born 1975, residing in Vinh City); Truong Gia Huy (born 1993, residing in Ho Chi Minh City); Pham Van Hieu (born 1986, residing in Lai Chau province); Nguyen Binh Duong (born 1986, residing in Vinh Long province); Ly Chi Quan (born 1991, residing in Tien Giang province); Phan Thanh Tien (born 1988, residing in Ca Mau province); Do Xuan Khai (born 1996, residing in Dak Lak province); Nguyen Phuc Nghia (born 2002, residing in Long An province); Nguyen Thi Huong Quynh (born 1992) and Nguyen Manh Cuong (born 1988), both residing in Hai Phong City; and Phan Vinh San (born 1996, residing in Thua Thien Hue province).

According to the case file, this ring operated under the direction of Nguyen Duc Vinh. Vinh is a recipient of social welfare benefits due to a severe mobility disability.
Vinh was recruited by "Old Buddha" - the direct administrator of the website "lauxanh.com" (later renamed "thiendia", "thiendia2.cc") - to be an administrator of the website.
This is a pornographic forum, divided into 5 categories with suggestive names. Each category is further divided into different levels of management. Vinh was assigned the task of managing (Mod) the "Northern Entertainment" category, participating in moderating and editing posts by members in that category, with a salary of 2.5 million VND per month.
After two years, Vinh was "promoted" to manage all the moderators below him. In addition to his management duties, Vinh was also given the authority to recruit and organize activities to expand the forum. The moderators would edit and upload pornographic videos, images, and sex stories to the forum to attract more users.
Operating under Vinh's direction were the following administrators: Huy, Hieu, Duong, Quan, Tien, Khai, Nghia, Quynh, Cuong, and San. These individuals initially joined the forum to view obscene content, then applied themselves or were invited by Vinh to become forum administrators.
These people's salaries are paid by "Old Buddha" via e-wallet based on the evaluation results of Nguyen Duc Vinh.
Authorities determined that Vinh disseminated 12.9GB of pornographic and sexually explicit content on the forum “Thiendia2.cc” and the Telegram group “Rap Chiem Phim Lau Xanh” (Green Cinema), earning over 360 million VND in illicit profits.
The remaining moderators, depending on their management level and length of service, illegally profited from tens of millions of dong to over 200 million dong. Two of them, Cuong and Nghia, refused to accept any compensation.

At the trial, the defendant Vinh testified that he suffered from a rare disease that limited his mobility. He claimed that the more than 360 million VND he illegally obtained was used to pay for his medical treatment.
The defendants expressed remorse and sincerely confessed to their crimes, hoping to receive leniency from the law.
After a comprehensive review of the case, the panel of judges sentenced Nguyen Duc Vinh and Truong Gia Huy each to 48 months in prison. The remaining defendants received sentences ranging from 21 months (with suspended sentences) to 39 months in prison.
