According to TASS on April 19, Bloomberg, citing sources, reported that the US government is ready to recognize Crimea as Russian territory within the framework of a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine.

Bloomberg points out that this move reflects US President Donald Trump's desire to achieve a ceasefire and resolve the conflict in Ukraine. However, a final decision has yet to be made.

According to Bloomberg, on April 17, US representatives presented proposals for a solution to the Ukraine issue to their allies in Paris. These included easing sanctions against Russia and refusing to discuss Ukraine's NATO membership. Additionally, the US proposal implied that all territories currently controlled by Russia would remain under Russian control. Discussions on these plans will continue next week in London.

Additionally, in Paris, the US reported that it had created a draft mechanism to monitor compliance with a comprehensive ceasefire in Ukraine should it be implemented. Details of the US administration's plan have not yet been revealed. The Washington Post noted that this is not an existing solution but only a conceptual draft.

In mid-March 2025, the Semafor news portal also reported that the administration of President Donald Trump was considering the possibility of officially recognizing Crimea as Russian territory. According to this source, US leaders were also discussing the possibility of calling on the United Nations to take a similar step.
