American media outlets have called the Su-57 an "obsolete aircraft."
(Baonghean.vn) - The American publication National Interest (NI) argues that the technologies used to manufacture Russia's fifth-generation fighter jets have become outdated.

Specifically, NI noted that the new composite material used for the Su-57 fighter jet "doubles radar wave absorption capabilities and reduces the radar visibility of the aircraft cockpit by an additional 30%."
NI emphasizes that this technology has been in use for over 30 years. NI cites the example of the American corporation Lockheed Martin, which began using this technology in the 1980s in the production of F-16 aircraft under the Have Glass program.
Additionally, this material is used in the F-22 and F-35 fighter jets. However, according to NI, regardless of the technical specifications of the Russian fighter jet, the Su-57 will not benefit the Russian military due to its excessively high cost.
This article points out that the Russian Air Force has only purchased 10 of these fighter jets since the first flight of the American F-35 in 2010, while the US has spent $60 billion to buy 180 F-22s and wants to spend an additional $400 billion to buy 2,300 F-35 fighter jets.
NI noted the differences in the military budgets of various countries, stating that the Russian defense industry is capable of producing around 100 new aircraft per year, only one-third the capacity of the United States.
The publication further stated that, in 2019, Russia was only able to assemble a squadron of 12 Su-57 aircraft, putting Moscow at a disadvantage in any conflict due to its insufficient numbers.
