Media explains why a NATO country wants to join BRICS
InfoBRICS believes that Türkiye supports the BRICS idea of a multipolar world.

According to RIA Novosti on July 26, journalist Haryanto Marthaha wrote in an analysis on InfoBRICS that Turkey - a NATO member state, is seeking BRICS membership, because the country actively supports the idea of a multipolar world, where the balance of power is more evenly distributed among different countries and regions.
“BRICS is a model of multipolarity and fair global governance, representing an attractive platform for Turkey, which is seeking to strengthen its independence from Western countries and blocs such as the European Union and NATO,” said journalist Haryanto Marthaha.
According to the analyst, Türkiye regularly faces financial problems and restrictions from Western institutions, including the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
Analyst Marthaha said that while Ankara would benefit from joining BRICS, there are serious obstacles that complicate the process. Such as domestic political realities, economic problems and external pressure from the West.
In early July 2024, during a visit to China, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced his desire to join BRICS and possible steps in this direction this year.
As a member of BRICS, according to the press secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, Moscow welcomes Türkiye's growing interest in the organization.
