From the ASIAD lesson, bringing Vietnamese sports to new heights

On the afternoon of September 3, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc met with the Vietnamese sports delegation that had just attended the 2018 ASIAD in Indonesia. Also attending were Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien and 150 officials, experts, coaches and outstanding athletes representing the delegation.
Expressing gratitude for the attention of the Party, the State, and the opinions of the coaches, the athletes affirmed their determination and efforts in training and competing to achieve even higher results. As said by coach Nguyen Manh Hieu, athletics, the Prime Minister's timely attention, encouragement and motivation has created more motivation for the delegation. Expressing his joy at meeting the outstanding faces of Vietnamese sports, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, the Prime Minister highly appreciated the achievements that the sports delegation had made at the recent ASIAD and today's meeting partly demonstrated this appreciation.
The Prime Minister acknowledged that the delegation competed with the will and aspiration of Vietnamese sports, especially demonstrating the spirit of solidarity, high national pride, and national culture. There were no complaints about the Vietnamese sports delegation's ethics and lifestyle at this congress. "Overall, the achievements of the sports delegation were excellent", showing the colors of the flag.
According to the Prime Minister, the delegation achieved a number of important "firsts": For the first time, the men's football team entered the semi-finals, for the first time we won a gold medal in athletics, for the first time we participated in the ASIAD with the largest number of athletes and the most number of events.

Once again, the Prime Minister highly appreciated the coaches, athletes, sports federations, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the General Department of Sports and Physical Training and relevant agencies for contributing to this victory on the occasion of the 73rd National Day.
The Prime Minister affirmed that although the country is still facing difficulties, the Party and State always pay attention to the sports industry, demonstrated through many policies and regimes for athletes and coaches.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the General Department of Sports and Physical Training to evaluate and draw lessons from this ASIAD to have measures to maintain and develop the achievements, promote strengths, and continue to bring Vietnamese sports to new heights. Have we trained the young generation well, have we had famous, dedicated, and responsible coaches, have we had federations that have done good advocacy work to have many resources and much experience to support State agencies in sports development... According to the Prime Minister, all of these things need to be summarized and evaluated.
The Prime Minister stated that it is necessary to continue implementing policies and laws on sports, especially the revised Law on Physical Training and Sports, including perfecting the regime and policies for coaches and athletes; caring for and training a team of highly qualified coaches. Upgrading facilities and equipment for training and coaching. Promoting socialization to attract resources to participate in sports development. Improving the effectiveness of State management in this field. It is necessary to pay attention to both mass sports and high-performance sports in the direction.

The Prime Minister affirmed that he will always create favorable conditions and listen to the opinions of leaders of the Ministry of Sports and Physical Training, sports federations, especially coaches, so that Vietnamese sports can achieve more achievements.
Regarding the issue of purchasing copyrights for some upcoming sports tournaments, the Prime Minister said he has assigned the Ministry of Information and Communications to handle it and promptly report to the Prime Minister.
