Specifically, at 5:20 p.m. on November 10, Mr. PDK (47 years old) called a hospital nurse to inform her that someone had sneaked in and amputated one of his legs while he was sleeping. The nurse then informed the emergency doctor.
Immediately, the on-duty staff went to the Traditional Medicine - Rehabilitation Department of the hospital (where Mr. K. worked). When they arrived, they saw Mr. K. lying on the bed, missing his left leg.
Then everyone informed each other and went to look for Mr. K's missing leg and discovered Mr. K's left leg in the bedside table where he was lying.
On duty, he provided first aid, protected Mr. K's severed leg, and transferred him to Can Tho Central General Hospital for treatment.
The incident was then reported to the District Police and the Criminal Police of Can Tho City. By 0:00 on November 11, the police had completed their investigation of the scene and initially determined that Mr. K. had cut off his own leg.
As for Mr. K., the doctors tried to persuade him to reattach the severed leg, but Mr. K. did not agree. The doctors at the Central General Hospital stitched the stump and did not reattach the limb. As of this morning, November 12, Mr. K.'s health condition has stabilized.
It is known that Mr. K. is gentle, has a wife and a 3-year-old child, and has worked at the hospital since July 2012. Before that, Mr. K. did not show any unusual signs. The Cai Rang District Police are continuing to investigate this unusual incident.
