Specifically, at 5:20 PM on November 10th, Mr. PDK (47 years old) called a hospital orderly to report that someone had sneaked in while he was sleeping and cut off one of his legs. The orderly then notified the emergency doctor.
Immediately, the on-call staff went down to the Traditional Medicine and Rehabilitation Department of the hospital (where Mr. K. worked). Upon arrival, they found Mr. K. lying on the bed, having lost his left leg.
Afterward, everyone informed each other and went to search for Mr. K.'s missing leg. They found his left leg in the bedside cabinet where he slept.
The on-duty medical staff provided initial first aid, protected the severed leg of Mr. K., and transported him to Can Tho Central General Hospital for treatment.
The incident was subsequently reported to the District Police and the Criminal Police of Can Tho City. By 0:00 on November 11th, the police had completed the scene investigation and initially assessed that Mr. K. had cut off his own leg.
Regarding Mr. K., the doctors urged him to have his severed leg reattached, but he refused. Doctors at the Central General Hospital sutured the stump and did not reattach the limb. As of this morning, November 12th, Mr. K.'s health has stabilized.
Reportedly, Mr. K. is a gentle person, married with a 3-year-old child, and has been working at the hospital since July 2012. Prior to this, Mr. K. showed no unusual behavior. This unusual incident is being further investigated by the Cai Rang District Police.
