Speaking to reporters, a spokesperson for Prime Minister May confirmed: "Freedom of movement will end in March 2019."
The official also added that other details regarding the post-Brexit immigration system will be announced at the appropriate time.
Following seemingly contradictory statements from top members of Prime Minister May's inner circle in recent days regarding the UK's Brexit plan, the spokesperson also affirmed that the government's position on Brexit remains the same as what the Prime Minister stated in January.
Last week, British Finance Minister Philip Hammond said there was no need for immediate changes to immigration rules when the UK leaves the EU.
