On the morning of September 29th, the Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial against Truong Van Quang (born in 1985), residing in Chau Tien commune, Quy Hop district, for the crimes of murder and robbery.

According to the indictment, at approximately 7 PM on July 11, 2015, Quang was walking to his brother's house in Pat village, Chau Tien commune, Quy Hop district. On the way, he was hit in the leg by Nathusingh Solanki (an Indian national and a worker at a stone quarry in Quy Hop district) who was riding a motorbike, but Solanki did not apologize.

Outraged, Quang spoke up, but Nathusingh Solanki did not respond. Quang then took out a knife he had concealed on his person, held it to the victim's neck, and slashed forcefully, injuring him and causing him to flee. Failing to slit the victim's throat, Quang chased after him, slashing him multiple times in the back and stabbing him in the chest, causing him to fall face down into the ditch.

After murdering the victim, Quang searched the victim's pockets, taking the wallet (containing 10,000 dong and some documents), a ring, and then took the victim's motorbike to his brother's house to ask for money to buy heroin for personal use. The total value of the drugs Quang stole was nearly 20 million dong. On July 13, 2015, knowing he could not escape, Truong Van Quang surrendered to the investigating agency and confessed to his crime.

The cause of death for Mr. Nathusingh Solanki was hemorrhagic shock and severe respiratory failure due to multiple injuries that severed the larynx, esophagus, right carotid artery, right jugular vein, and right lung.

At the trial, the defendant Quang admitted to all of his crimes. After considering the circumstances, the court sentenced Truong Van Quang to death for murder and 5 years in prison for robbery. Combining the two crimes, Quang must serve the death penalty.
