From today (December 1st), the 50% reduction in vehicle registration fees for domestic cars has ended.
From December 1st, 2024, the policy of reducing vehicle registration fees by 50% for domestically produced cars will end. The fees will be applied again according to Decree 10/2022/ND-CP.

The 50% reduction in registration fees ends on December 1, 2024.
On August 29, 2024, the Government issued Decree 109/2024/ND-CP stipulating the rate of registration fee for domestically produced and assembled automobiles, trailers, semi-trailers, and similar vehicles. The policy of reducing the registration fee by 50% is applied from September 1, 2024, to November 30, 2024, aiming to support consumption and boost the market.
However, this policy will end on December 1, 2024. The vehicle registration fee will revert to the rates stipulated in Decree 10/2022/ND-CP and related legal documents.
Vehicle registration fee rates effective from December 1, 2024
According to Decree 10/2022/ND-CP, the registration fee rates for domestically manufactured and assembled automobiles are applied as follows:
Cars, trailers, semi-trailers and similar vehicles: 2%.
Passenger cars with 9 seats or fewer:
First installment: 10% (may increase up to a maximum of 50% at the discretion of the local authorities).
Subsequent installments: 2% (applied uniformly nationwide).
Pickup trucks and vans under 950kg: 60% of the fee for cars with fewer than 9 seats.
Battery-powered electric cars:
Registration fee waived for the first 3 years (from March 1, 2022).
Pay 50% of the vehicle registration fee for gasoline and diesel cars for the next two years.
Based on the vehicle quality certificate, the tax authorities will determine the appropriate amount of registration fee.

2020: From June 28th to December 31st (Decree 70/2020/ND-CP).
2021-2022: From December 1, 2021 to May 31, 2022 (Decree 103/2021/ND-CP).
2023: From July 1st to December 31st (Decree 41/2023/ND-CP).
2024: From September 1st to November 30th (Decree 109/2024/ND-CP).
2024 is the year with the shortest period of vehicle registration fee reduction in recent years.
