Border marker 409, constructed on December 30, 2009, is located on the banks of the Nam Mo River and holds significant importance in the management and protection of national border sovereignty. Due to the impact of heavy rains and floods in 2018, border marker 409 is no longer intact. However, throughout this time, the armed forces of both sides have strictly maintained bilateral patrols, promptly exchanged information, and coordinated in handling emerging situations, contributing to maintaining security and order in the border area. Both sides have also agreed on a plan to move the border marker to a hillside, approximately 150 meters from the riverbank, to ensure the long-term safety and durability of the national border marker. Muong Xen commune currently has a border with Noong Het district (Laos) stretching 5.383 km.
