The youth of Nghe An are ready for new opportunities.

The year 2025 presents many opportunities but also poses numerous challenges for the youth of Nghe An. In the face of these changes, the youth of Nghe An are gradually adapting, proactively training themselves, contributing, and affirming their pioneering role in the comprehensive development of their homeland.
On the occasion of the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26, 1931 - March 26, 2025), Nghe An Newspaper had a conversation with Comrade Nguyen Thi Phuong Thuy - Member of the Central Committee of the Youth Union, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, and President of the Vietnam Youth Union Association of Nghe An province.
PV:Could you provide an overview of the current situation of Youth Union members and branches, as well as the outstanding achievements this force has accomplished in the past?
Comrade Nguyen Thi Phuong Thuy:Nghe An currently has 903 grassroots-level Youth Union organizations, 7,748 branches, with a total of 116,705 members.
Over the past period, thanks to the attention, guidance, and direction of the Central Committee of the Youth Union and the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, the coordination of departments, agencies, and partner units, along with the efforts, creativity, and innovation of the youth of Nghe An, many remarkable results have been achieved.
In 2024 and the first three months of 2025 alone, the youth of the province built 23 model new rural roads; renovated 473.5 km of rural roads, with a total value of 1.5 billion VND; and demolished 54 temporary or dilapidated houses, with a total value of over 2 billion VND. In the province's disadvantaged areas, the Youth Union at all levels organized many meaningful charitable programs such as "Warm Tet in the Western Region," "Warm Winter," etc., with a total support value of over 5 billion VND.
Contributing to key national projects, the youth of the entire province excellently completed the 30-day intensive emulation campaign "Overcoming the sun and rain" for the 500kV circuit 3 power line, receiving high praise and commendation from the Prime Minister and the Central Youth Union, and being awarded Certificates of Merit. When the northern provinces were severely affected by natural disasters, the youth of Nghe An also established a volunteer youth group with nearly 100 young people to support the people of Hai Phong in overcoming the consequences of Typhoon Yagi; directly calling for, mobilizing, and transporting tens of tons of necessities and essential goods to support the people.
Furthermore, during the summer, international volunteer teams from the province's youth also participated in many meaningful activities in Laos. Thanks to this, the image of the volunteer youth in their blue uniforms has been increasingly enhanced in the hearts of the people, Party committees, and governments of both countries. At the same time, this has significantly contributed to the series of achievements that have helped the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Nghe An province receive the Emulation Flag for Outstanding Unit from the Central Youth Union for many consecutive years, receive Certificates of Merit for its high-impact campaigns, and receive numerous awards from the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee for various thematic achievements.
PV:Through monitoring the information channels of the Youth Union and Youth Association at all levels, it can be seen that the youth members of Nghe An province consistently show high levels of agreement with the Party and State's guidelines and policies, most notably in the recent work of merging and streamlining the administrative apparatus. So, what solutions have the Youth Union at all levels implemented to help young people understand and foster this consensus?
Comrade Nguyen Thi Phuong Thuy:The fact that the youth and members of Nghe An province agree with the Party and State's guidelines and policies, especially in the work of merging and streamlining the apparatus, is the result of effective propaganda, correct ideological orientation, and appropriate practical activities of the Youth Union at all levels.
In recent times, the Youth Union at all levels has focused on organizing activities to disseminate and educate about the Party and State's guidelines and policies through meetings, seminars, forums, and media programs on official channels. Through these activities, Youth Union members and young people have been provided with complete and accurate information, thereby understanding and agreeing with important policies.
Youth Union branches at all levels have also focused on understanding the thoughts and aspirations of their members, especially those who are cadres, civil servants, and workers. Listening and responding promptly helps alleviate concerns and anxieties, creating trust and consensus in the implementation of the Party and State's policies.
In the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the Youth Union at all levels has promoted the application of information technology and digital transformation in its work. Strengthening connections and interactions with young people through digital platforms helps to listen to and respond promptly to the thoughts and aspirations of Youth Union members and young people; establishing feedback channels and direct dialogues allows Youth Union members and young people to express their opinions, thereby adjusting methods accordingly and ensuring that it does not cause anxiety.
These implementations have created consensus among youth union members and young people throughout the province, especially the recent policy of merging and streamlining the organizational structure. From the beginning, all levels of the Youth Union have always recognized this not only as a correct policy of the Party and the State, but also as an inevitable trend to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the entire political system. For the Youth Union, this is not just a change in organization, but also an opportunity for breakthroughs, helping to build a higher quality and more professional team of Youth Union officials, thereby promoting the sustainable development of the youth movement in the new situation.
PV:With the influx of large businesses into Nghe An, many believe that young people will find it difficult to compete in entrepreneurship. Instead of starting their own businesses, they should focus on improving their skills and qualifications to become high-quality human resources for these companies. What are your thoughts on this viewpoint?
Comrade Nguyen Thi Phuong Thuy:I believe that the investment of large businesses in Nghe An not only poses challenges but also opens up many development opportunities for local youth.
First and foremost, it must be emphasized that improving skills and qualifications is a prerequisite. When large corporations emerge, they bring advanced technology, modern management models, and demand a highly skilled workforce with innovative thinking and professional work skills. If young people in Nghe An do not proactively adapt and learn, the risk of being left behind in their own homeland is unavoidable.
However, Nghe An has the advantage of a young, creative workforce and, especially, a strong entrepreneurial spirit. Instead of just focusing on finding jobs in businesses, young people can proactively start their own businesses, leveraging local potential to develop strong sectors such as high-tech agriculture, community tourism, and the digital economy. This is not only a unique path but also contributes to promoting sustainable economic development in the locality.
Importantly, the Nghe An Provincial Youth Union always accompanies young people on this path. The Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union has organized many activities to support young people in starting businesses and finding jobs, such as the "Startup Ideas and Projects for Young People in Nghe An" competition; supporting digital transformation in youth economic development models from production to bringing products to the market. In addition, job fairs for young people, career orientation activities, and connecting training of high-quality human resources to meet the labor recruitment needs of industrial zones have also been effectively implemented, helping young people not only find jobs but also create jobs for themselves and others.
In particular, the Nghe An Provincial Youth Union is also promoting the role of the Provincial Young Entrepreneurs Association and district-level youth economic development clubs in supporting young people in starting businesses, establishing careers, and developing the economy.
Therefore, instead of worrying about competition, young people in Nghe An should see this as an opportunity for development. They should proactively learn, hone their skills, cultivate their character, and dare to think and act. Whether choosing to work in a company or start their own business, the most important thing remains a progressive spirit, innovative thinking, and a strong will to succeed.
PV:In the coming period, what are the key plans and activities of the Youth Union at all levels to improve the quality of Youth Union work and maximize the potential of Youth Union members and young people in the overall development of the province?
Comrade Nguyen Thi Phuong Thuy:As the country enters a new phase of development with many great opportunities, Nghe An is also undergoing a strong transformation. On this journey, young people must be the pioneering force, contributing their youthful energy to overall development.
In 2025, the Nghe An Provincial Youth Union has chosen the theme for the year as follows:"The youth of Nghe An are proud and steadfast in their support of the Party."This affirms the steadfastness of the younger generation and their determination to act for the development of their homeland and country.
Accordingly, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union focuses on improving the quality of the Youth Union organization, promoting political and ideological education, implementing revolutionary action movements, and accompanying young people on three key tasks: Implementing the policy of streamlining the organizational structure; Organizing intensive campaigns of political and ideological education and implementing meaningful youth emulation movements and projects. These tasks are concretized through four main activities: Implementing the political activity campaign throughout the Youth Union "One story about Uncle Ho each week"; The "One day of work per member" movement to help eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses; Implementing the "Popular Education Movement"; and Promoting the "Proud of our homeland" campaign.
In response to the new demands of the political task, the Youth Union's educational work will shift from a one-way to a multi-way approach, with frequent interaction with members and young people, focusing on listening to their opinions, aspirations, and feedback. The digital transformation of the Youth Union's educational activities will continue. These activities will gradually change young people's mindset and habits regarding digital transformation, and quickly disseminate basic knowledge about digital transformation to them. The organization of action programs needs to be vibrant from the grassroots level and bring sustainable value to the community, society, and the development of young people.
In the coming period, all levels of the Youth Union throughout the province will adopt a proactive approach in implementation, closely following the directives of the Party and the State. The immediate priority is to seriously implement the policy of streamlining the organizational structure, contributing to improving the quality of activities throughout the entire system. From there, we will gradually build a truly strong and comprehensive Youth Union organization, building a strong Youth Union from the grassroots level, and expanding the front of unity and mobilization of young people.
