Nghe An youth ready for new opportunities

The year 2025 opens up many opportunities but also poses many challenges for Nghe An youth. Faced with these changes, Nghe An youth have gradually adapted, proactively trained, contributed, and affirmed their pioneering role in the comprehensive development of their homeland.
On the occasion of the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26, 1931 - March 26, 2025), Nghe An Newspaper had a conversation with comrade Nguyen Thi Phuong Thuy - Member of the Central Committee of the Youth Union, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, President of the Vietnam Youth Union of Nghe An province.
PV:Could you give us an overview of the current situation of union members and union bases and the outstanding achievements that this force has achieved in recent times?
Comrade Nguyen Thi Phuong Thuy:Nghe An currently has 903 grassroots Youth Union organizations, 7,748 branches, with a total of 116,705 members.
In recent times, with the attention, direction and orientation of the Central Youth Union Secretariat and the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, the coordination of departments, branches, and accompanying units, along with efforts, creativity and innovation, Nghe An youth have achieved many remarkable results.
In 2024 and the first 3 months of 2025 alone, the youth of the whole province built 23 model new rural roads; renovated 473.5 km of rural roads, with a total value of 1.5 billion VND; eliminated 54 temporary and dilapidated houses, with a total value of more than 2 billion VND. In the difficult areas of the province, the Youth Union at all levels organized many meaningful charity programs such as "Warm Tet in the West", "Warm Winter"... with a total support value of more than 5 billion VND.
Contributing to key national projects, the youth of the whole province have successfully completed the 30-day peak competition "Overcoming the sun and overcoming the rain" for the 500kV line circuit 3, which was highly appreciated and commended by the Prime Minister and the Central Youth Union, and awarded a Certificate of Merit. When the northern provinces were severely affected by natural disasters, Nghe An youth also established a volunteer youth group with nearly 100 young people to support Hai Phong people to overcome the consequences of typhoon Yagi; directly calling for, mobilizing, and transporting dozens of tons of necessities and essential goods to support the people.
Along with that, during the summer, international volunteer teams of the province's youth were also present to directly carry out many meaningful activities in Laos. Thanks to that, the image of the green volunteer shirt is increasingly enhanced in the hearts of the people, Party committees and authorities of the two countries. At the same time, it has contributed significantly to the series of achievements that have helped the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Nghe An province to be awarded the Emulation Flag of an excellent unit by the Central Youth Union for many consecutive years, awarded Certificates of Merit through peak campaigns and awarded many thematic awards by the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Committee.
PV:Through monitoring the information channels of the Youth Union and Association at all levels, it can be seen that Nghe An Youth Union members and youth always have high consensus with the Party and State's guidelines and policies, most notably in the recent work of merging and streamlining the apparatus. So what solutions have the Youth Union at all levels implemented to help young people understand and create that consensus?
Comrade Nguyen Thi Phuong Thuy:The fact that Nghe An's youth union members agree with the Party and State's guidelines and policies, especially in the work of merging and streamlining the apparatus, is the result of effective propaganda, correct ideological orientation and appropriate practical activities of the Youth Union at all levels.
In recent times, the Youth Union at all levels has focused on organizing propaganda and education activities on the Party and State's guidelines and policies through meetings, seminars, forums, and communication programs on official information channels. Thereby, union members and young people are provided with complete and accurate information, thereby clearly understanding and agreeing with important policies.
The Youth Union at all levels has also focused on understanding the thoughts and aspirations of union members and young people, especially those who are cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers. Listening and responding promptly helps to relieve concerns and worries, creating trust and consensus in the process of implementing the policies of the Party and the State.
In the context of the 4.0 industrial revolution, the Youth Union at all levels has promoted the application of information technology and digital transformation in Youth Union work. Strengthening connections and interactions with young people through digital platforms helps to listen to and promptly respond to the thoughts and aspirations of union members and young people; establishing feedback channels and direct dialogues so that union members and young people can express their opinions, thereby adjusting appropriate approaches, ensuring that they do not cause anxiety.
These implementations have created consensus among the union members and youth of the whole province, especially the most recent policy of merging and streamlining the apparatus. From the beginning, the Youth Union at all levels have always determined that this is not only the right policy of the Party and the State, but also an inevitable trend to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and efficiency of the entire political system. For the Youth Union, this is not only a change in organization, but also an opportunity for breakthrough, helping to build a team of Union cadres with better quality and professionalism, thereby promoting the sustainable development of the youth movement in the new situation.
PV:Faced with the wave of large enterprises pouring into Nghe An, many opinions say that it is difficult for young people to compete in starting a business, what they should do is improve their skills and qualifications to become high-quality human resources for businesses instead of starting their own businesses. What do you think about this point of view?
Comrade Nguyen Thi Phuong Thuy:I think that the investment of large enterprises in Nghe An not only poses challenges but also opens up many development opportunities for local youth.
First of all, it must be affirmed that improving skills and qualifications is a prerequisite. When large corporations appear, they bring advanced technology, modern management models and require a highly specialized workforce, innovative thinking and professional working skills. If Nghe An youth do not proactively adapt and learn, the risk of being "inferior" in their homeland is inevitable.
However, Nghe An has the advantage of young, creative human resources and especially a strong entrepreneurial spirit. Instead of focusing only on finding job opportunities in enterprises, young people can completely take the initiative to start a business, taking advantage of local potential to develop strong areas such as high-tech agriculture, community tourism, digital economy, etc. This is not only a separate direction but also contributes to promoting sustainable economic development in the locality.
Importantly, Nghe An Provincial Youth Union always accompanies young people on this path. The Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee has organized many activities to accompany young people in supporting start-ups and job search such as the Contest "Startup ideas and projects for Nghe An youth"; supporting digital transformation in youth economic development models from production and bringing products to the market. In addition, fairs connecting and finding jobs for young people, career orientation activities, connecting high-quality human resource training to meet the labor recruitment needs in industrial parks have also been effectively implemented, helping young people not only find jobs but also create jobs for themselves and others.
In particular, Nghe An Provincial Youth Union also promotes the accompanying role of the Provincial Young Entrepreneurs Association and district-level economic development youth clubs with young people in starting a business, establishing a career and developing the economy.
Therefore, instead of worrying about competition, Nghe An youth should see this as an opportunity for development. Be proactive in learning, improving skills, training courage and daring to think and act. Whether choosing to work in a business or start a business, the most important thing is still the spirit of progress, innovative thinking and the will to rise.
PV:In the coming time, what are the key plans and activities of the Youth Union at all levels to improve the quality of Youth Union work and maximize the potential of union members and young people in the overall development of the province?
Comrade Nguyen Thi Phuong Thuy:In the context of the country entering a new stage of development with many great opportunities, Nghe An is also changing strongly. On that journey, the youth must be the pioneer force, contributing their youth to the common development.
In 2025, Nghe An Provincial Youth Union has chosen the theme of the year as"Nghe An youth are proud and firmly believe in the Party",affirming the steadfastness of the young generation, determined to act for the development of the homeland and country.
Accordingly, the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee focuses on improving the quality of the Youth Union organization, promoting political and ideological education, implementing revolutionary action movements, accompanying the youth in 3 key tasks: Implementing the policy of arranging and streamlining the organizational apparatus; Organizing peak periods of political and ideological education and implementing emulation movements and meaningful youth projects. These tasks are specified through 4 main activities: Deploying the political activity period in the entire Youth Union "A story about Uncle Ho every week"; The movement "Each Youth Union member has a working day" to join hands in eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses; Deploying the movement "Education for the masses"; Promoting the campaign "Proud of a strip of mountains and rivers".
Faced with the new requirements of political tasks, the education work of the Youth Union will shift from one-way to multi-dimensional, with regular interaction with union members and young people, focusing on listening to the opinions, aspirations and feedback of young people. Continue to digitally transform the educational activities of the Youth Union. Activities gradually change the thinking and habits of young people about digital transformation, quickly popularize basic knowledge about digital transformation for young people. Organizing action programs needs to have vitality from the grassroots and bring sustainable values to the community, society and the development of young people.
In the coming time, the Youth Union at all levels in the province will determine to be proactive in implementation, closely following the direction of the Party and the State. In the immediate future, it is necessary to seriously implement the policy of streamlining the apparatus, contributing to improving the quality of operations of the entire system. From there, step by step, build a truly strong and comprehensive Youth Union organization, build a strong Youth Union from the grassroots, and expand the front of solidarity to gather young people.
