A four-star Republican general has announced he will vote for Hillary Clinton.

Former US Secretary of State Colin Powell, a retired four-star Republican general, revealed that he will vote for Hillary Clinton in the presidential election on November 8th, according to US media reports.

PattayaAccording to a report by Robert Brodsky of the newspaper on October 25th, Powell revealed his decision to endorse Clinton at a luncheon in Long Island.News;At the event, Powell told attendees that he would vote for Clinton because candidate Donald Trump “insults us every day.”

With that statement, the retired four-star general is the latest in a series of prominent Republican figures to cross the "red line" to endorse Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton or reject Republican candidate Donald Trump.

Previously, Powell had criticized billionaire Trump, according to stolen emails released by WikiLeaks after his email account was hacked. In the emails, Powell called Trump a "national disgrace."

The leaked emails also revealed that Powell had criticized Clinton for using a personal email account while serving as Secretary of State.

This is the third time in a presidential election that Powell has "betrayed" the Republican Party to vote for a Democratic candidate. In 2008 and 2012, Powell supported Barack Obama to become president of the United States.

Powell served as Secretary of State from January 2001 to January 2005 under President George W. Bush. Prior to that, he served in the George H.W. Bush administration as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and in the Ronald Reagan administration as National Security Advisor.
