Iranian General: Will launch a fierce attack to destroy Israel
A top Iranian general has vowed to destroy Israel, stressing that the Jewish state will soon have "nowhere to run but the sea", raising concerns about a major conflict in the Middle East.
An Iranian general has just threatened to destroy Israel with a fierce attack, leaving the Jewish State with no choice but to flee to the sea.
Specifically, in a speech to the military in the city of Isfahan, Brigadier General Hossein Salami, Second Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran, emphasized: "I want to tell the Prime Minister of the State of Israel that he should learn to swim in the Mediterranean. Because soon there will be no place to hide in the sea."
General Salami continued to claim that Israel could be defeated without Iran by the Iranian-backed armed group Hezbollah. "Hezbollah alone is enough to defeat them," Mr. Salami declared.
Iran provides weapons and money to Hezbollah, an armed group that was formed in 1985 in response to Israel’s intervention in Lebanon. Hezbollah is believed to possess up to 150,000 missiles and stores them across Lebanon.
Israel and Hezbollah clashed in 2016 but ended in a stalemate that saw thousands of rockets fired at Israeli cities from southern Lebanon.
Both Iran and Hezbollah have gained a foothold in Syria in recent years, backing the Bashar al-Assad regime against rebel groups.
Israel views this intervention as a threat to its national security and has carried out airstrikes on sites linked to Hezbollah or Iran. Israel recently admitted that it has carried out more than 200 airstrikes on Iranian and Hezbollah targets in Syria since last year.
