Casemiro's future: Three MLS clubs are competing for his signature.
After a difficult period at Manchester United, the Brazilian midfielder could move to MLS. New York City FC, Columbus Crew, and Austin FC all have tactical reasons to sign him.
My journey at Manchester United is coming to an end.
Casemiro's future at Manchester United is becoming uncertain, and Major League Soccer (MLS) is emerging as a potential destination for the Brazilian defensive midfielder.
Once a legend at Real Madrid with five Champions League titles, Casemiro sought a new challenge in the Premier League. However, he was unable to maintain his peak form amidst Manchester United's extensive rebuilding period.

The 2024/25 season saw a significant decline in Casemiro's form, fueling speculation that he would soon leave to ease the burden of his £375,000-a-week salary. Despite recent improvements in form, with four goals in 15 Premier League games, his future at the club after his contract expires in 2026 is considered unlikely.
MLS: A potential destination
Despite interest from the Saudi Pro League, MLS is considered the most viable option for Casemiro. Many clubs there are eager to secure his services before the 2026 season begins. Below are three ideal destinations for Casemiro in North America.

New York City FC
The arrival of a former Manchester United player to a City Football Group team might be surprising, but New York City FC has the financial and technical capacity to welcome Casemiro. For the 2025 season, the team has been flexible in using formations with three, four, or five defenders. Defensive midfielder Justin Haak has been moved to play as a centre-back, but he is currently a free agent with no contract renewal. This creates an ideal gap for Casemiro to fill.
Column Crew
Columbus Crew is in the midst of a turbulent transfer window, particularly regarding the head coach position. Wilfried Nancy, who led the team last season, has moved to Celtic but is under pressure. If he returns, the signing of Casemiro could be accelerated. Tactically, Casemiro could be deployed in a more advanced role, taking on the task of orchestrating play. He could bring balance between attack and defense, similar to how Rodrigo De Paul adapted at Inter Miami.
Austin FC
Under manager Nico Estevez, Austin FC typically deployed a 3-4-3 or 4-4-2 formation. However, their midfield has shown weaknesses, particularly in their playoff loss to LAFC. Signing Casemiro would be a significant upgrade, bringing much-needed experience and stability to the team's midfield.
