A US general asserts: The United States needs to be the dominant superpower.
The United States needs to be the dominant nuclear power and not allow rivals to have comparable military capabilities. That's the statement of General John Hyten, commander of the U.S. Strategic Command.

"We need to always seize the best opportunities the country can offer. We need to always be in a position of dominance on the battlefield. I don't want a balanced battle where the enemy thinks they are almost equal in strength to us. If that were the case, it would be dangerous for our country," General Hyten declared at a conference on missile and space defense.
Among the main adversaries of the United States, the American general pointed to Russia and China, which are actively developing military nuclear and space capabilities "to confront the United States." At the same time, General Hyten acknowledged that such actions by these countries are a response to US actions: "They do this because they see what we do."The general noted that he currently sees no cause for concern regarding the strategic defense capabilities of the United States, and therefore he "sleeps soundly every night." At the same time, Hayten stated, "We need to think not about today, but about tomorrow."
"We need to master every capability — nuclear, space, in the field of anti-missile defense… This is not about creating conditions for war, but about creating conditions for peace… We need to be dominant in every situation," the general reiterated.
