According to the indictment, over a long period from August 12, 2018 to May 16, 2025, Nguyen Duy Niem posted 20 articles and disseminated and propagated 72 articles on the Facebook accounts Nguyen Duy Niem, Khai Nguyen, and An Khang, which he created.
These articles distort the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws and regulations; they slander the people's government in order to sow seeds of doubt and dissatisfaction with the socialist regime, incite thoughts and actions against the government, or insult the people's government.
During a search of the suspect's residence, authorities also discovered two books containing information that distorted facts, slandered the people's government, and spread fabricated information to cause public panic.
In court, the defendant admitted to the crime, acknowledged his actions were wrong, and asked the court to consider mitigating circumstances. After a comprehensive review of the case, the court sentenced Nguyen Duy Niem to 5 years in prison and 2 years of probation.
