"The Vietnamese women's team played hard and achieved a great victory. They will receive well-deserved rewards for their efforts, with prize money totaling over 4 billion VND so far," VFF Standing Vice President Tran Quoc Tuan shared with VnExpress.

The amount includes 100 million VND from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien, 3 billion VND from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), and over 900 million VND from businesses. This is the largest amount of money the Vietnamese women's national team has ever received in history.

In their final match at the 29th SEA Games, the Vietnamese women's team secured a 6-0 victory against host nation Malaysia. This result allowed Coach Mai Duc Chung's team to dethrone Thailand in the SEA Games. Although both teams had 10 points, Vietnam had a better goal difference (+11 compared to +9).

This is the fifth time the Vietnamese women's team has won the SEA Games title, equaling Thailand's record."Thailand beat the Philippines 3-1, so we knew we had to beat Malaysia by five goals. However, I told my players not to get impatient, but to remain calm and play steadily," coach Mai Duc Chung shared.

Mr. Chung has a special connection with women's football, as this is the third time he has led the team to win a SEA Games gold medal. Malaysia also holds special significance for Vietnamese women's football, as the team won a SEA Games gold medal there 16 years ago.

While the women's football team won the gold medal, the men's football team was eliminated in the group stage after a 0-3 defeat against Thailand.

"I watched the Vietnam-Thailand match, and just as I was getting on the bus to go to the stadium, the game ended. I knew our team had lost and been eliminated. Like many other Vietnamese people, I was very sad. I sympathize with Huu Thang; sometimes football is just cruel," Coach Mai Duc Chung shared with his colleague.
