Colonel Tran Van Hung - Deputy Commander of the Chief of Staff of the Provincial Military Command presented the decision to establish the Marine Militia platoon of the Provincial Military Command to the representative of Nghi Thuy ward.

Nghi Thuy Ward's maritime militia platoon has 31 comrades, mainly fishermen in the commune, organized into 3 squads, operating on 3 ships over 450 CV, equipped with support tools such as binoculars, life buoys, walkie-talkies, hand-held loudspeakers... and other equipment according to regulations.

Immediately after the establishment ceremony, the platoon will enter training and combat readiness according to regulations. From now on, in each trip to sea, along with exploiting aquatic resources for economic development, officers and soldiers of the platoon will also promote the role of coordinating with the Border Guard, Coast Guard, Fisheries Department... to participate in search and rescue work and propaganda for the protection of aquatic resources, while preventing acts of seafood exploitation and illegal activities of foreign vessels in our country's exclusive waters. The establishment of the Nghi Thuy Ward Marine Militia Platoon contributes to encouraging local fishermen to firmly stick to the sea, exploit aquatic resources, and strengthen the strength to protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland in the current new situation.

Up to now, Nghe An province has had 11 platoons and 7 squads of maritime militia in the districts of Quynh Luu, Dien Chau, Nghi Loc, and Cua Lo town. Of which, the maritime militia platoon of Dien Ngoc commune, Dien Chau district is a model unit of the Ministry of National Defense, and the maritime militia platoon of Nghi Thuy ward, Cua Lo town is a model unit of Nghe An province and Military Region 4.
