Colonel Tran Van Hung - Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Provincial Military Command, presented the decision to establish the Provincial Military Command's Maritime Militia platoon to the representative of Nghi Thuy ward.

The Nghi Thuy Ward Maritime Militia Platoon consists of 31 members, mainly fishermen from the commune, organized into 3 squads, operating on 3 boats with over 450 horsepower. They are equipped with support tools such as binoculars, lifebuoys, walkie-talkies, loudspeakers, and other equipment as prescribed.

Immediately after the establishment ceremony, the platoon will begin training and combat readiness as prescribed. From now on, on each fishing trip, in addition to exploiting marine resources to develop the economy, the officers and soldiers of the platoon will also play a coordinating role with the Border Guard, Coast Guard, Fisheries Administration, etc., participating in search and rescue operations and disseminating information on protecting marine resources, while preventing illegal fishing and activities of foreign vessels in our country's exclusive economic zone. The establishment of the Nghi Thuy Ward Marine Militia Platoon contributes to motivating local fishermen to steadfastly stay at sea and exploit marine resources, while strengthening the power to protect the sovereignty of the Fatherland's seas and islands in the current new situation.

To date, Nghe An province has 11 platoots and 7 squads of maritime militia in the districts of Quynh Luu, Dien Chau, Nghi Loc, and Cua Lo town. Among them, the maritime militia platoon of Dien Ngoc commune, Dien Chau district, is a model unit of the Ministry of National Defense, while the maritime militia platoon of Nghi Thuy ward, Cua Lo town, is a model unit of Nghe An province and Military Region 4.
