USD continues its dramatic surge.
Today's USD exchange rate (January 17, 2024): VCB USD increased sharply by 75 dong in both buying and selling rates, while the global USD continued its dramatic surge, jumping above 103 points.
The central exchange rate of VND/USD, announced by the State Bank of Vietnam, has been adjusted to 23,987 VND/USD, an increase of 11 dong compared to the trading session on January 16th.

Currently, the permitted exchange rate for commercial banks ranges from 23,400 to 25,136 VND/USD. The US dollar exchange rate has also been brought within the buying and selling range of 23,400 to 25,136 VND/USD by the State Bank of Vietnam's Exchange Department. Specifically, Vietcombank's buying rate is 24,265 and its selling rate is 24,635, an increase of 75 dong compared to the trading session on January 16th. The current buying and selling prices of USD are in the range of 23,400 - 25,300 VND/USD.
On the global market, the Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the USD against six major currencies (EUR, JPY, GBP, CAD, SEK, CHF), closed at 103.38 points – up 0.94% compared to the trading session on January 16th.
Gold unexpectedly plummeted.
Today, SJC gold remained stable at a high price of 76.5 million VND/ounce, while world gold prices unexpectedly dropped sharply.

Today, DOJI lists the price of 9999 gold at 73.95 million VND/ounce for buying and 76.45 million VND/ounce for selling.

Meanwhile, at Mi Hong Gold and Gemstone Company, the listed price of SJC gold at the time of the survey was 74.60 - 75.70 million VND/ounce (buying price - selling price).
At Bao Tin Minh Chau Co., Ltd., the price of SJC gold is also being traded at 73.90 – 76.15 million VND/ounce (buying price - selling price). Meanwhile, at Bao Tin Manh Hai, it is being traded at 73.90 – 76.70 million VND/ounce (buying price – selling price).
The world gold price recorded at 5:00 AM Vietnam time today was $2,028.610 USD/ounce, down $26.155 USD/ounce compared to yesterday's price. Converted using the current exchange rate at Vietcombank, the world gold price is approximately VND 59.324 million/ounce (excluding taxes and fees). Therefore, the price of SJC gold bars is still VND 14.676 million/ounce higher than the international gold price.
Domestic coffee prices are rising "dramatically".
As of 5:12 AM on January 17, 2024, coffee prices surged, reaching a high of 71,500 VND/kg, with an average of 71,300 VND/kg in the Central Highlands provinces. The highest purchase price was in Dak Nong province at 71,500 VND/kg.
Specifically, the purchase price of coffee in Gia Lai and Kon Tum provinces is quite high at 71,400 VND/kg; in Dak Nong province, coffee is purchased at the highest price of 71,500 VND/kg.
The price of bulk green coffee beans (green coffee beans, fresh coffee beans) in Lam Dong province, in districts such as Bao Loc, Di Linh, and Lam Ha, is being purchased at 70,900 VND/kg.
In Cu M'gar district, Dak Lak province, coffee is being purchased at 71,300 VND/kg, while in Ea H'leo district and Buon Ho town, it is being purchased at the same price of 71,400 VND/kg.
