USD exchange rate today October 15, 2024: The State Bank announced the central exchange rate of the Vietnamese Dong to the USD down 14 VND, at 24,161 VND. The US Dollar Index (DXY) increased 0.32%, reaching 103.21.
World USD exchange rate 10/15/2024
The US Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the US dollar's performance against six major currencies, edged up 0.32% to 103.21.
The US dollar hit a 10-week high in recent trading, on concerns about an economic slowdown, reflecting expectations that the US Federal Reserve (Fed) may cut interest rates gradually.
The DXY index rose to a high of 103.36, its highest since August 8, while the euro fell to a 10-week low below $1.09.
The European Central Bank (ECB) is set to cut interest rates this week, but the Fed's decisions remain in the market spotlight.
US interest rate futures markets are pricing in an 87% chance the Fed will cut rates by 25 basis points at its November meeting, and a 13% chance rates will remain unchanged at between 4.75% and 5%, according to LSEG estimates.
At its September policy meeting, the Fed decided to cut interest rates by 50 basis points.
The interest rate futures market is now expecting the Fed to continue cutting rates by about 45 basis points by year-end and another 98.5 basis points in 2025, which is much lower than the market's previous forecast.
Expectations that the Fed will cut interest rates more slowly and less have supported the dollar in recent weeks, but analysts believe that rally may be coming to an end.

The State Bank listed the central exchange rate at 24,161 VND/USD, down 14 VND compared to the previous day.
Commercial banks can trade in the range of 22,952 to 25,369 VND/USD, according to the +/-5% margin regulation.
Vietcombank is currently listing USD prices from 24,630 to 25,020 VND/USD, an increase of 30 VND for buying and 20 VND for selling compared to this morning.
VietinBank's buying rate is 24,520 VND/USD and selling rate is 25,020 VND/USD.
Techcombank's buying price is 24,601 VND/USD and selling price is 25,110 VND/USD.
Eximbank listed the buying rate at 24,650 VND/USD and the selling rate at 25,060 VND/USD.
On the free market, the USD/VND exchange rate is currently 25,250 - 25,350 VND/USD, up 10 VND for both directions compared to the previous day.
The buying price of USD on the free market is 730 VND higher and the selling price is 330 VND higher than that of banks, with the difference decreasing by 20 VND compared to the previous day.
