In the US market, the US Dollar Index (DXY) – which measures the USD’s performance against six major currencies (EUR, JPY, GBP, CAD, SEK, CHF) – fell 0.08% to 106.19. After reaching 106.63 at the beginning of the trading session, the DXY continued to cool down, while the EUR fell 0.12% to 1.0586 USD.

The Japanese yen was unchanged at 154.68 yen per dollar, having earlier gained 0.91% against the greenback. The yen also recently rose 0.11% to 163.74 yen per euro, after hitting a six-week high of 161.50 yen per euro. The dollar has gained 9% against the yen since early October, hitting 156.74, its highest since July, raising the possibility that Japan will intervene to support its currency.

Against the Swiss franc, the US dollar edged up 0.02% to 0.883, after falling 0.32% earlier in the session.

In another development, the Russian ruble fell 0.83% against the USD to 100.571. This is the first time the official rate of the ruble has fallen below 100 against the USD since October 2023.

In the domestic market, at the beginning of the trading session on November 20, the State Bank announced the central exchange rate of the Vietnamese Dong against the USD increased by 5 VND, currently at 24,293 VND.

* The reference exchange rate at the State Bank's transaction office remains unchanged, currently at: 23,400 VND - 25,450 VND.

USD exchange rates at commercial banks are as follows:

* The EUR exchange rate at the State Bank's buying and selling exchange center increased slightly, currently at: 24,445 VND - 27,018 VND.

EUR exchange rates at commercial banks are as follows:

* The buying and selling rates of Japanese Yen at the State Bank of Vietnam remain unchanged, currently at: 150 VND - 165 VND.
