The US Dollar Index (DXY), a measure of the value of the US dollar against six other major currencies, fell slightly by 0.06% to 102.47 points.

The US dollar is nearing its highest level in seven weeks, as investors worry about further US interest rate cuts and tensions in the Middle East.

Investors are awaiting information from the minutes of the Federal Reserve's September meeting, scheduled for release today, and the September Consumer Price Index (CPI) report, which will be released tomorrow.

Strategist Vassili Serebriakov from UBS New York believes that after the market sell-off of the US dollar, investors will cautiously await new CPI data.

The euro edged lower to $1.0971, near its lowest level in seven weeks. The British pound edged higher to $1.3085, after having fallen to a three-week low earlier this week.

Investors no longer expect the Federal Reserve (Fed) to significantly ease monetary policy this year.

Recent positive jobs reports, along with remarks from Fed Chairman Jerome Powell, suggest the Fed may only cut interest rates slightly by 0.25%.

New York Fed President John Williams also agreed that the September interest rate cut decision does not apply to future decisions.

The market predicts an 87% probability that the Fed will cut interest rates by 0.25% in November and potentially a total reduction of 0.50% by the end of the year.

The US dollar strengthened against the euro, GBP, and JPY, reflecting expectations about the Fed's monetary policy and geopolitical developments.

The Japanese yen appreciated as a safe-haven asset but then declined slightly.

The US dollar reached a seven-week high against the Japanese yen and its highest level since August against the Canadian dollar.

The Australian dollar depreciated against the US dollar, falling to its lowest level since mid-September.
