USD exchange rate today August 9: The USD on the world market has increased for the third consecutive session in the international payment basket. The State Bank announced the central exchange rate of the Vietnamese Dong to the USD increased by 12 VND, currently at 24,262 VND.
USD exchange rate today in the world
In the US market, the US Dollar Index (DXY) measuring the greenback's fluctuations against six major currencies (EUR, JPY, GBP, CAD, SEK, CHF) increased by 0.22% to 103.19.
The US dollar gained in recent trading, reflecting optimism from the US labor market report with the number of unemployment benefit applications falling more sharply than expected.
Initial claims for unemployment benefits fell to a seasonally adjusted 233,000 last week, the Labor Department said, easing concerns about a deterioration in the labor market.
The US dollar gained against the Yen, especially after the Japanese currency fell significantly in a volatile trading week, reflecting changes in interest rate carry trades and Japanese monetary policy.
The yen weakened, falling 0.37% to 147.205, continuing a 1.6% decline from the previous day, following the Bank of Japan's Deputy Governor's announcement to keep short-term interest rates unchanged.
Investors' attention is now focused on the upcoming US inflation report for July and remarks from Fed Chairman Jerome Powell at the Jackson Hole Conference in late August, which could influence investment decisions.

In the domestic market, at the beginning of the trading session on August 9, the State Bank announced the central exchange rate of the Vietnamese Dong against the USD increased by 12 VND, currently at 24,262 VND.

The USD exchange rate in the free market this morning turned down compared to the previous session. At the Hanoi market, at 6:01 a.m., the USD was traded (buying - selling) at around 25,572 - 25,652 VND/USD, down sharply by 93 VND/USD for buying and 83 VND/USD for selling compared to the previous trading session.
