Japanese Yen exchange ratesudden plunge

The Japanese Yen exchange rates today, as surveyed at various banks, are as follows:

At Vietcombank, the buying rate for JPY is 155.98 VND/JPY and the selling rate is 165.11 VND/JPY, a decrease of 0.65 VND in the buying rate and 0.59 VND in the selling rate. At Vietinbank, the buying and selling rates decreased by 0.9 VND, equivalent to 156.47 VND/JPY and 166.17 VND/JPY. At BIDV, the buying rate increased by 0.72 VND and the selling rate increased by 0.74 VND, reaching 157.48 VND/JPY and 165.75 VND/JPY respectively. At Agribank, the buying and selling rates are 158.80 VND/JPY and 163.74 VND/JPY respectively - an increase of 0.45 VND in the buying rate and 0.48 VND in the selling rate.

At Techcombank, the buying rate decreased by 0.67 VND and the selling rate decreased by 0.65 VND, reaching 153.79 VND/JPY and 164.60 VND/JPY respectively. At Sacombank, the buying rate decreased by 0.81 VND and the selling rate decreased by 0.83 VND, reaching 158.05 VND/JPY and 165.43 VND/JPY respectively.

According to the survey, Agribank has the highest buying rate for the Japanese Yen, while Eximbank has the lowest selling rate among the participating banks.

VCB's USD exchange rate increases, global USD price recovers and stabilizes.

Today, November 17, 2023, the USD/VND exchange rate and the USD VCB rate reversed course and increased by 15 dong in both buying and selling directions. The global USD is showing a stable recovery trend.

The central exchange rate for VND/USD today was announced by the State Bank of Vietnam at 23,971 VND/USD, a decrease of 45 dong compared to the closing rate of the trading session on November 15th.

Currently, the permitted exchange rate for commercial banks ranges from 23,400 to 25,119 VND/USD. The US dollar exchange rate has also been brought within the buying and selling range of 23,400 to 25,119 VND/USD by the State Bank of Vietnam's Exchange Department.

This morning, the USD exchange rate and domestic foreign exchange rates saw a series of upward adjustments at various banks. Accordingly, in An Giang province, the price of Dai Thom 8 rice fluctuated around 9,200 - 9,400 VND/kg, an increase of 200 VND/kg; OM 18 rice increased by 100 VND/kg to 9,100 - 9,200 VND/kg; Nang Hoa 9 rice increased by 200 VND/kg to 9,200 - 9,300 VND/kg. Prices for other rice varieties remained stable.

On the rice market, the price of raw rice at export warehouses remained unchanged today.

Reports from the Mekong Delta provinces indicate stable rice trading. Currently, localities are entering the final stages of harvesting the 2023 Autumn-Winter rice crop. Many traders in need of rice have purchased it at 9,400 VND/kg, an increase of nearly 1,000 VND/kg compared to the Summer-Autumn crop. For the Winter-Spring rice crop, many traders have placed deposits to purchase early Winter-Spring rice at 9,300 VND/kg.

In the rice market, demand from warehouses remains stable. Mills are offering rice regularly, but there isn't much available for sale. Prices of all types of white rice are unchanged.

On the export market, the price of Vietnamese rice continues to remain stable. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), the current export price of 5% broken rice is 653 USD/ton; the price of 25% broken rice fluctuates around 638 USD/ton.
