With record low approval rating, South Korean president still hasn't resigned
President Park Geun Hye's approval rating has dropped to a record low following a series of scandals involving her "best friend".
According to a Gallup Korea poll released on November 25, Ms. Park's approval rating is only 4%, a record low in history.
The Bank of Korea is now worried that the political crisis will lead to policy paralysis in the country. In November, the consumer confidence index in Korea fell to its lowest level in more than 7 years.
Park's approval rating fell another 1 percentage point after staying at 5% for three consecutive weeks, while her disapproval rating rose 3 percentage points to 93% in Gallup Korea polls.

President Park Geun Hye is embroiled in one of the biggest political scandals in South Korean history involving her close friend, shaman Choi Soon-Sill. Prosecutors are indicting Ms. Choi and investigating the president's role in the scandal.
Ms. Park was identified as a suspect and an accomplice in her close friend's political manipulation activities. Despite many protests and low approval ratings, Ms. Park has not yet resigned.
Recently, the offices of major corporations such as Samsung, Lotte and SK were raided on allegations that they contributed large sums of money to non-profit foundations established by Choi Soon Sil in exchange for business privileges.
