After their opening day defeat, U17 Song Lam Nghe An made a convincing comeback, beating U17 Dong Nai 5-0 in the second match of Group B at the 2026 National U17 Championship Finals.

On the afternoon of July 19th, at Ham Rong Stadium (Gia Lai), U17 Song Lam Nghe An faced U17 Dong Nai in the second match of Group B of the 2026 National U17 Championship Finals. After a 0-2 defeat against Ho Chi Minh City Football Club in the opening match, Coach Pham Hai Nam's team had to secure all three points to keep their hopes of advancing alive.

Compared to the opening match, coach Pham Hai Nam made some notable adjustments to the lineup. Striker Quang Anh was benched, while Van Sang was given the opportunity to play as the furthest forward. In midfield, Minh Loi was also used from the start to increase ball control. U17 Song Lam Nghe An continued to operate their familiar 4-2-3-1 formation.

Right after the opening whistle, the Nghe An team proactively pushed their formation forward, completely controlling the game. Their midfield combinations, combined with overlapping runs from Van Lam, Ngoc Son, and defenders Dang Huy and Bao Hoang, constantly put Dong Nai's goal under threat.

Under intense pressure, U17 Dong Nai proactively retreated deep into their own half with a large number of players to close off spaces. This multi-layered defensive system helped the Southern team hold firm for almost the first half hour of the match.

However, the deadlock was broken in the 30th minute. From a combination play on the right wing, a teammate delivered a perfect cross for Van Sang to run in and tap the ball into the net from close range, giving U17 Song Lam Nghe An a 1-0 lead.

The goal boosted the morale of Coach Pham Hai Nam's players. The Nghe An team continued to press their opponents and created a series of dangerous opportunities. In the final minute of the first half, from a corner kick, Dang Huy rose high and headed the ball accurately, doubling the lead before the two teams went into halftime.

Leading 2-0 after the first 45 minutes, U17 Song Lam Nghe An continued to maintain pressure in the second half. While Dong Nai was forced to push forward in search of a goal, their attacks were quickly thwarted by the solid defense of the Nghe An team.

In the 50th minute, U17 Song Lam Nghe An scored their third goal. Following a corner kick from the left wing, the ball bounced around in front of the goal and Van Sang was in the right place at the right time to complete his brace, increasing the score to 3-0.

Not stopping there, the Nghe An team continued to showcase their diverse and fast-paced style of play. In the 57th minute, from a shift in attack to the left wing, Van Lam skillfully dribbled past the opposing defender before unleashing a beautiful curling shot into the far corner, increasing the score to 4-0.

Once the lead had widened, coach Pham Hai Nam proactively adjusted the pace of the game and gave some substitute players a chance to play. Despite this, U17 Song Lam Nghe An still maintained their dominant position.

The relentless attacking efforts of the Nghe An team were rewarded in the final minutes of the match when Van Lam completed his brace, sealing a convincing 5-0 victory.

With a brace from Van Sang, a brace from Van Lam, and a goal from Dang Huy, U17 Song Lam Nghe An made a strong comeback after a setback in their opening match.

This victory puts Coach Pham Hai Nam's team back in the race for a quarter-final spot. In the final group stage match, U17 Song Lam Nghe An will face U17 PVF-CAND. Just one more point would secure their place in the quarter-finals. However, a win would give U17 Song Lam Nghe An a better chance of securing a favorable position, thus avoiding strong opponents in the knockout rounds and paving the way towards their goal of winning the championship.
