Coming from a 1-3 deficit to win 8-7 on penalties, Thailand U19 officially advanced to the Southeast Asian U19 Futsal Championship final to face Indonesia.

The semi-final match of the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Futsal Championship in Nonthaburi witnessed one of the most dramatic clashes in the tournament's history. Hosts Thailand U19 overcame the ultimate challenge against Malaysia to secure their place in the final after a tense penalty shootout.

A comeback from being 1-3 down.

Thailand started proactively and quickly took the lead through Phakphum Thiamtee. However, defensive errors proved costly for the Thai team. Malaysia capitalized on these weaknesses, scoring three consecutive goals to take a 3-1 lead and forcing the home team into a desperate chase.

Unwilling to accept defeat at home, coach Boonlert Charoenwong decided to implement a power-play strategy in the second half. The suffocating pressure from the red-shirted players finally paid off. Monnath Chan-Krajang and Phakphum Thiamtee both shone to equalize the score at 3-3, bringing the game back to square one.

Sharing his thoughts after the emotional victory, coach Boonlert Charoenwong thanked the fans: “The cheers from the stands really energized the players. That mental strength helped them not give up even when trailing. I always believed the team would come back because we had trained very well for such high-pressure situations.”

Despite winning the match, the Thai coach frankly admitted that his team didn't play particularly well: "Today we played below par. However, the important thing is that the players fought to the end and proved their mettle. I am very proud of them."
