Yesterday (May 8th), coach Ludovic Batelli announced the list of 21 French players who will travel to South Korea for the FIFA U20 World Cup 2017. Maxime Lopez of Marseille and Kylian Mbappe of Monaco are not included in this list.

Mbappe is only 18 years old, but he is already Monaco's main striker. In Ligue 1, he has played 26 matches, scoring 14 goals, making a significant contribution to helping the principality's team top the league table.Meanwhile, in the Champions League, the striker born in 1998 scored five goals in nine matches, helping Monaco reach the semi-finals.

Coach Ludovic Batelli tried everything to include Mbappe in the French U20 squad but was unsuccessful."Didier Deschamps wants to keep Mbappe, which is understandable," coach Ludovic Batelli told L'Équipe with a disappointed tone.

Coach Deschamps is expected to call up Mbappe to the French national team for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Sweden, as well as two friendly matches against Paraguay and England.

During the announcement of the French U20 squad, coach Ludovic Batelli expressed his disappointment at not having the services of several key players because their clubs, currently playing in their respective national leagues, refused to release them.

"The clubs have their rights. We don't want a heated confrontation. The ones who are upset are the players," said coach Ludovic Batelli.

At the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup, France U20 was in Group E along with Vietnam U20, Honduras U20, and New Zealand U20.
