SLNA U21 team leaves empty-handed on opening day.
(Baonghean.vn) - Despite facing an opponent considered weaker, U21 SLNA suffered a painful defeat in their opening match.
On the afternoon of June 19th, at the Viettel Sports Center, U21 SLNA was defeated 0-1 by U21 Public Security in their opening match of the 2019 U21 National Championship qualifiers.
Before the match, the People's Police U21 team was not considered as strong as the SLNA U21 team, at least in terms of reputation. Winning against the People's Police U21 team was a task well within the reach of Coach Nguyen Dinh Dung's team.
However, a major surprise occurred. Not only did U21 SLNA fail to secure all three points in their opening match, but they also suffered a minimal defeat (0-1), despite dominating the game and creating numerous scoring opportunities.
Ngo Van Dung's only goal came from a successful penalty kick in the 83rd minute, following a foul by former Vietnam U19 national team player Thai Ba Sang, who is currently playing for Pho Hien First Division team on loan.

In this year's U21 National Championship qualifiers, U21 SLNA is in Group A, along with U21 Viettel, U21 Hanoi, U21 Pho Hien, U21 Nam Dinh, and U21 Than Quang Ninh. Their defeat against U21 Public Security makes securing a place in the finals even more difficult for U21 SLNA.
According to the schedule, in the second match of Group A, taking place on the afternoon of June 21st, Coach Nguyen Dinh Dung's team will face U21 Pho Hien.
