Vietnam U23 team finalizes date for assembly and training camp in Qatar ahead of the Asian Championship.
Following their success at the 33rd SEA Games, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will gather on December 23rd for an important training camp in Qatar to prepare for the 2026 AFC U23 Championship.
Plan to prepare for continental objectives
After winning the gold medal at the 33rd SEA Games, the Vietnam U22 team will have only a short break before embarking on their next important campaign. According to the latest plan from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), the entire team will officially reconvene in Hanoi on December 23rd to begin their preparation for the 2026 AFC U23 Championship in Saudi Arabia.

Strategic training trip to Qatar
A highlight of this preparation period is the international training camp in Qatar. Thanks to the cooperation between the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and the Qatar Football Association (QFA), coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will spend about a week training there. The trip is expected to help the players quickly adapt to the Gulf climate, which is similar to that of Saudi Arabia, the tournament's host country.
In Qatar, the QFA will provide maximum support in terms of facilities and arrange friendly matches with suitable opponents. This is an opportunity for the Vietnam U23 team to review their strength, refine their tactics and skills, and test their lineup before entering the official tournament.
The challenge at the 2026 AFC U23 Championship Finals
At the 2026 AFC U23 Championship, Vietnam U23 is in Group A, a relatively difficult group. The team will face host nation Saudi Arabia U23, along with Jordan U23 and Kyrgyzstan U23. However, with the positive momentum gained from winning two consecutive regional championships in 2025, Kim Sang-sik's squad is highly confident.
Thorough preparation in terms of professional skills, physical fitness, and psychology through the training program in Qatar is considered key to the Vietnamese U23 team's readiness to face major challenges. Fans are hoping for a new miracle for Vietnamese youth football on the continental stage.
