Two men who robbed a woman of her handbag while being relentlessly pursued by special task force detectives threw helmets and stabbed with knives to escape.

On the morning of May 9th, the District 1 Police (Ho Chi Minh City) announced the arrest of two robbers.Le Ngoc Son (born in 1962, residing in District 3) and Nguyen Van Hung (born in 1995, residing in District 1) are being investigated for robbery.

On the evening of May 8th, Son (58 years old) was driving a motorbike with license plate 59C1 - 106.91, carrying Hung, around the streets of District 1 in search of a "victim". At around 8:30 PM that same day, the two arrived at Nam Quoc Cang Street, Pham Ngu Lao Ward, District 1, where they spotted a woman getting out of a car carrying a handbag.

Son then drove the motorbike close to the woman so that Hung could snatch her handbag before speeding away. At the same time, the special task force of the Criminal Investigation Department (District 1 Police) spotted them and gave chase.

The chase spanned several streets, and when the detectives managed to get close to the two robbers, Hung threw his helmet and stabbed one of the detectives with a knife before continuing his escape.

The police continued the pursuit to Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, District 3, where they quickly overtook the robbers, forced their motorbike to stop, and knocked the two thieves to the ground. The two robbers were apprehended by the police along with the stolen items: a handbag containing 30 million VND and a knife.

It is known that both robbers had previous convictions for "theft" and "robbery." The robbery is currently being investigated and processed according to the law by the District 1 Police.
