U60 man forged red book... defrauded nearly 1 billion VND
By using the trick of forging land use right certificates (red books) and then pawning them, two subjects in their 60s defrauded 10 victims, appropriating nearly 1 billion VND.
On the afternoon of November 11, the Investigation Police Agency of Can Tho City prosecuted the case, prosecuted the accused, and issued an order to temporarily detain Ms. Le Minh Tien (53 years old, residing in Hung Phu ward, Cai Rang district, Can Tho city) for the act of "Fraudulent appropriation of property".
At the same time, Ms. Tien's accomplice, Ms. Tran Ngoc Cam (55 years old, residing in Thoi Hung commune, Co Do district, Can Tho city) was also detained for the above act.
According to the initial investigation, from the end of 2014 until now, Ms. Tien and Ms. Cam have forged land use right certificates (red books), power of attorney papers... and then mortgaged them to defraud and appropriate property.

Currently, the Can Tho City Police Investigation Agency has proven that 10 victims in Can Tho, Hau Giang, Soc Trang, and An Giang were defrauded by the above two subjects of nearly 1 billion VND.
Typically, Ms. NTC (living in An Khanh ward, Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city) had her fake red book mortgaged by Ms. Tien and Ms. Cam and appropriated 140 million VND.
Initially, the two subjects confessed that the scammed money was used for personal expenses and debt repayment.
