This blacklist, previously issued by the "Arab Four", includes 59 people and 12 organizations, including the spiritual leader of the Muslim Brotherhood movement Yousef al-Qaradawi and a number of people working in Qatari charities.
By nationality, the expanded list includes three terrorist organizations based in Yemen and six in Libya; three Kuwaitis, three Yemenis and two Libyans.
The Bahraini government has announced that it will arrest anyone who shows support for Qatar. The Bahraini Interior Ministry statement said that supporting the Qatari government or opposing sanctions against Qatar is a criminal offense with a possible prison sentence of up to five years. The UAE previously passed a similar measure, imposing a prison sentence of up to 15 years for those who support Qatar.
In Doha, Qatar has denied the accusations of the Gulf countries, repeatedly declaring that this "blacklist" is baseless, and affirming that Qatar complies with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council on counter-terrorism, including eradicating sources of funding for terrorism.
Sanctions imposed by four Arab countries on Qatar have forced the country to import food by sea and air to meet the needs of its 2.7 million people. However, the Emir of Qatar insists that life in Qatar continues as normal despite the unjust “siege”.
AmbassadorQatar's US envoy Meshal bin Hamad Al-Thani has called on Arab states to end the blockade, saying the crisis is counterproductive to the region and the fight against terrorism.
"The State of Qatar has shown a constructive attitude in resolving the issue. We have repeatedly called for a meeting to sit down and discuss. But now, the decision to sit down at the negotiating table depends on the countries boycotting Qatar," said Ambassador Al-Thani.
