The People's Committee of Hong Son Ward is constructing kiosks for rent on the traffic safety corridor.
(Baonghean.vn) - Taking advantage of the traffic safety corridor land, for many years the People's Committee of Hong Son ward (Vinh City) has built a row of sturdy kiosks for people to rent and sell goods.
Recently, some residents living in Hong Son ward (Vinh City) have complained about the Hong Son ward People's Committee constructing a row of kiosks on the sidewalk at the intersection of Alley No. 2, Le Huan Street and Cao Thang Street.
Residents argue that since the ward built kiosks for rent, people have had to walk on the road, which obstructs traffic and poses a safety risk.

Upon investigation, it was found that the residents' complaints were well-founded. Right on the sidewalk at the entrance to alley number 2, where Le Huan and Cao Thang streets meet, there are 5 kiosks built for selling goods and repairing electronics. Each kiosk has an area of nearly 20 square meters.
According to the design, Alley 2 on Le Huan Street has a road width of 5 meters, with sidewalks paved with block tiles on both sides for pedestrians. However, the appearance of kiosks has encroached on the traffic safety corridor, affecting the movement of people and vehicles.
In addition, because there are commercial construction projects underway on both sides of this road, contractors are using corrugated iron sheets for fencing during construction. As a result, the already narrow road becomes even more congested without sidewalks.

Regarding this issue, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dat, Chairman of the Hong Son Ward People's Committee, acknowledged that the residents' complaints were accurate and that the aforementioned row of kiosks had been built a long time ago. Since their construction, the Ward People's Committee has leased them to residents for business and trading purposes.
Mr. Dat stated that because he had only recently taken office, he did not yet have the means to handle the situation.
Regarding the encroachment on sidewalks for the construction of rental kiosks in Hong Son ward, we request that the Vinh City People's Committee and relevant functional departments promptly take measures to address the issue and restore the traffic safety corridor and sidewalks for pedestrians.
