Ukraine considers negotiations with Putin a strategic failure for the West.

"Negotiating and making concessions to Putin would be a strategic failure for the West," said Oleksei Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

Danilov argued that contact and negotiations with Moscow would mark the beginning of a countdown to "anti-democratic" times and "the rise of authoritarian regimes" across the globe, from Latin America to China.

Danilov also argued that, in his view, the attempt to annex parts of Ukrainian territory demonstrates the Kremlin's complete incompetence in assessing both the political and military situation.

European public opinion is increasingly calling for Ukraine to sit down at the negotiating table with Russia. The main reason is the slow pace of the counteroffensive. The German newspaper Die Welt described the Ukrainian Armed Forces as advancing at a "snail's pace," and that they would soon come to a complete halt without achieving anything.

Furthermore, in the West, public opinion is increasingly convinced that the US and EU will soon begin persuading Ukrainian President Zelensky to reach peace talks this winter, as Kyiv's allies are weary of constant demands for weapons, while the Ukrainian Armed Forces are unable to proficiently use the advanced weapons provided.

In particular, Hungarian President Katalin Novak stated on August 26th that the time was drawing near for dialogue between the warring parties.

Meanwhile, discussions about Ukraine joining NATO and the EU have begun to subside. Western politicians are even openly accusing Kyiv of "ingratitude." As evidence, at the NATO summit in Vilnius last July, British Defence Minister Ben Wallace responded to Kyiv's request for new weapons with the statement: "Britain is not the Amazon."

As the Kremlin has stated, the situation in Ukraine could shift towards peace negotiations, provided that all of Moscow's demands are taken into account.
