Ukraine is stepping up the application of artificial intelligence in its defense ecosystem.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has deployed more than 70 combat-ready AI systems and aims to equip all frontline drones with computer vision.
Ukraine is accelerating the development of its defense technology market focused on artificial intelligence (AI), with the participation of more than 200 companies. According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, the country has registered over 300 AI-related projects on the Brave1 platform, of which more than 70 systems have been directly deployed in conflict zones.

Strategy for building a military technology network.
In an effort to modernize its military, Ukraine is establishing specialized technology centers. Notably, the "A1" Defense Artificial Intelligence Center has been created, focusing on developing combat solutions and optimizing processes for the defense industry. Key areas of focus include ground robotics systems, artillery, and long-range attack methods.
Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov affirmed that technological superiority is a vital factor in modern conflicts. Maintaining a pace of innovation helps the Ukrainian army adapt quickly to the constant changes on the battlefield.
Practical applications of AI on the battlefield.
Currently, AI technology is assisting the Ukrainian military in performing many complex tasks. Specifically, these systems are used to automatically identify targets via unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), detect enemy forces and equipment even when heavily camouflaged. In addition, AI operates automated fire positions and analyzes battlefield data through the Delta system.
The long-term goal of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense is to integrate computer vision and AI capabilities into its entire operational UAV network. This will increase accuracy and minimize risks for human operators.
Data training and international collaboration
To enhance the effectiveness of AI models, Ukraine utilizes the Brave1 Dataroom platform for training based on real-world data. Developers have access to datasets collected from various environmental conditions, weather, and sensor types, which helps optimize recognition algorithms.
In addition, Ukraine is expanding cooperation with foreign partners through platforms such as Avengers Labs and Test in Ukraine. Most recently, the country signed its first agreement with Germany on the exchange of defense data, paving the way for future joint military technology development projects between the two countries.
