Ukraine urges Germany to supply battle tanks.
(Baonghean.vn) - In an interview with the German newspaper Bild, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urged the Berlin government to supply battle tanks to Kyiv, thereby setting an example for other countries and helping this Eastern European nation "win".

President Zelensky stated: "I want to appeal to Germany: You are independent of other countries, if you are willing to save lives... then provide us with this equipment... If you don't want to, that's your opinion, but don't say that it should be the US first, then Poland (the countries that should provide this equipment). No, everyone must take responsibility. Battle tanks mean to us that Ukraine can save more lives."
According to Zelensky, Ukraine is very grateful for Germany's military and financial support, but the Eastern European country needs more to "win".
He added: "The UK has supported us a lot, the US has also supported us a lot, you don't need to compare yourself to other countries. Germany has provided us with very good equipment, we appreciate the Mars II multiple rocket launcher system, the financial support... and we don't compare this support with other countries. On the contrary, you need to set an example for other countries by providing tanks. Germany is the strongest economy in Europe, so you can also set a good example."
In early September, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced that Berlin would act in conjunction with its allies instead of unilaterally supplying weapons to Ukraine.
