According to RIA Novosti on June 3, General Erich Wad - former military advisor to former German Chancellor Angela Merkel, said in an interview with Germany's Berliner Zeitung that possible Ukrainian attacks on Russian strategic facilities should not be a reason for politicians in Germany to request the supply of Taurus cruise missiles to Kiev.

"Deep reconnaissance operations are one thing. But Germany should not provide Taurus," said General Erich Wad.

There is a danger, Mr. Wad explained, that if Ukraine fired long-range Taurus missiles at important targets, such as the Crimean bridge or ministries in Moscow, as some German politicians have demanded, “Germany would become a participant in the war.”

"It is clear that the Russians are slowly but surely moving forward and are on their way to achieving their goals," said General Erich Wad.

Meanwhile, former US intelligence officer Scott Ritter shared his views on his blog that the attacks on Russian airports show that Ukraine threatens humanity.

"It is not Russia that poses a threat to the existence of humanity, but Ukraine," said former US intelligence officer Scott Ritter.

The expert also noted that Ukrainian forces could not carry out such an operation on their own and Kiev's proposal could be approved by European allies.

Earlier, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz reported that, after the UK and France, Germany had lifted all restrictions on the range of use of weapons delivered to Ukraine. According to him, the Ukrainian Armed Forces can now strike deep into Russian territory and it is necessary to provide them with such weapons.

German Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil later said at a press conference in Berlin, contrary to the Chancellor's statement, that Germany had not changed its position on supplying weapons to Kiev.

Russian President's press secretary Dmitry Peskov stressed that Prime Minister Merz's statements on long-range weapons prevented attempts to penetrate the orbit of the peace process in Ukraine and provoked the continuation of hostilities.
