Ukraine sets goal of ending conflict, Russia controls more villages in Donetsk
Ukraine’s goal is not just to end the fighting, but to ensure it does not recur. Russia takes control of another village in the Donetsk region.
According to Pravda, on June 29, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba outlined the goals that Kiev is aiming for in its efforts to end the conflict.
"Ukraine's goal is not only to restore the border, to hold Russia accountable, but also to ensure that a new conflict cannot happen. That is the victory Ukraine is aiming for," Mr. Kuleba said.
Foreign Minister Kuleba admitted that the path to peace is not easy, but it is the only option for Kiev. In addition, Mr. Kuleba also emphasized the importance of the upcoming summit, pledging to work with the international community to find a lasting peace solution.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Kiev was preparing a "comprehensive plan" to end the conflict, and that the plan would be ready by the end of 2024.
Russia takes control of village in Donetsk
According to TASS, on June 29, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that the country's army had taken control of Shumy village and improved its position around Toretsk city (Donetsk region).
"The Russian army has improved the tactical situation in the area and taken control of the village of Shumy. Over the past 24 hours, we also repelled six counterattacks, causing the enemy to lose 360 soldiers and various types of equipment," the Russian side said.
A day ago, Moscow declared control of the village of Rozdolivka in eastern Ukraine. However, Ukraine said that fighting was still raging around the village, and Kiev was trying to push Russia back.
